Road salt’s impact on groundwater isn’t simply a winter concern
Research shows there is a year-round impact

Groundwater is impacted by road salt throughout the entire year and not just during the winter months, a Delaware Geological Survey researcher says. Salt is retained in soil and moves in water. During the non-winter months, salt that attaches itself to soil particles is flushed from soil by stormwater. Higher salt content can also cause radium to enter groundwater, the study suggests.
