Yukon River flooding prompts precautionary boil-water advisory for private well owners

Residents advised to keep 72-hour supply on hand

Yukon – Carmacks residents using private wells have been issued a boil-water advisory by the territorial government.

The advisory is meant at a precautionary measure following flooding of the Yukon River which threatens to pose a health risk.

Water from privates should be boiled for at least two minutes before it’s used for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.

The government also suggests residents keep a 72-hour supply of water ready in case flooding impacts water supplies.
