California university researchers find bacteria that destroys some PFAS

Riverside, Calif. – Scientists at the University of California have discovered a pair of bacteria species found in soil that break down a class of “forever chemicals,” or PFAS. The chemical and environmental engineering researchers say the bacteria destroys a PFAS sub-group which have one or more chlorine atoms within their chemical structure.
