Yellowknife, N.W.T. – The cost to replace the city’s aging drinking water pipeline has skyrocketed by 65 per cent since it was estimated only four years ago. The pipeline, which is nearing the end of its lifespan, was projected to cost $34.5 million in 2019 when council first planned its replacement, but the price has since soared to more than $57 million, and the city can’t afford the expense.
