E. coli outbreak in Hope, B.C. water system leads to local boil-water advisory

Hope, B.C. – An E. coli outbreak in parts of the municipality has prompted a boil-water advisory.

The bacteria has been found in the water supply for the area southwest of Kawkawa Lake, but does not affect the areas of Silver Creek, Lake of the Woods, East Kawkawa Lake and private water systems.

The water in the affected areas is not potable, and residents are being urged to boil their water or use bottled water.

The district says it aims to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
