There’s a good reason Edmonton’s drinking water smells like a ‘wave pool’

Edmonton – Melting snow running into the North Saskatchewan River, carrying with it decomposing vegetation, sediment and other organic matter, has led to an odd smell in the city’s drinking water. Residents have described the smell as similar to that of a wave pool with ample chlorine. In spite of the smell, the city’s EPCOR water company insists the water is safe to drink.
