Water services return to Inukjuak four weeks after frozen main pipe forced shutdown

Inconsistent water access led to other issues

February 23, 2022  By Ground Water Canada

Inukjuak, Que. – Water services have been restored here following a four-week shutdown due to a frozen main pipe. In the short term, water was obtained from a hole in the frozen river and trucked to local homes. Heaters and generators had been used to thaw the frozen pipe, and regular deliveries resumed on Monday. The community’s inconsistent access to water has led to other issues, including students turning up at school with unwashed clothing. An insufficient fleet of operable water and sewage trucks has also presented an ongoing issue. Nunatsiaq News report | READ MORE
